Update Time!

Seeing as how I’ve been super busy lately, I have not yet gotten around to writing the promised post about the full Wordpress / Joomla! Integration, but there are definitely things on the horizon.

I am moving into a new place this weekend, which I am very excited about. Should be a long a busy weekend adding Halloween into the mix.

This past week was filled with all sorts of musical adventures starting with Portugal. The Man last Saturday and Sunday. As always, my fellow northwesterners never dissappoint. Monday evening I found myself headed to Boondocks with Melissa & Denae to watch Houston’s The TonTons put on a free performance, which was also quite excellent. We also ran into Monica, Fayza and Maggie. Thursday I went with Melissa & Mei Lani to see Ray Lamontagne & Leona Naess, which was very pleasing to the ears, however the venue and audience were quite subpar. This finally brings us to Friday which saw Melissa & myself attending Ben Folds, which was definitely spectacular. I’d definitely reccommend any of the mentioned bands to anyone and everyone.

I have moved onto the new site at work, it is a legal job site, similar to Monster and HotJobs but geared specifically towards attorneys and legal staff. We are aiming to improve on areas that are not quite ideal on similar websites. With this new project comes a plethora of challenges. I’m basing the jobs system off of the open source job board engine, OSJobber. While OSJobber is a great bit open source code, it is far from having all of the functionality that the new site is going to require. My first mission is to modualize the platform for use outside of the actual interface.

Anyway, that’s about all I’ve got for now. Halloween this weekend, moving this weekend, and killer steak dinner next weekend.

Cheers.

Ojon Rub-Out Dry Cleanser

Ojon’s Rub-Out Dry Cleaner is a must have for anybody living in the hot and humid south. I didn’t know a thing like this existed until a good, and obviously female friend told me about this.

The heat and humidity here in Texas does ungodly things to one’s hair. Usually about half of the way through your day, your hair is a competely gross and oily mess that makes it look like your hair has not seen the graces of shampoo in weeks. This wonderful spray (available in either 2oz or 4½oz cans) removes all the gunk from your hair, returning it to the state it was in when you left your place of dwelling in the morning.

What it really comes down to, in an effort to sum things up, is that this spray is nothing short of pure magic.

It can be purchased at your local Sephora for the reasonable price of $10 for the 2oz and $24 for the 4½oz can.

AV Shirt by Olly Moss

So I was doing my daily browsing of Uncrate this morning and saw this gem of a t-shirt.

Needless to say, if anyone wants to buy that wonderful bit of pure cotton geekery, feel free. The shirt is sold by Threadless who never fails to provide a quality product. I’d love to purchase it now, but alas, the ole automobile needs a bit of fixing up.

Coasters!

So I was perusing the wonderful internet this morning while taking a slight break from work duties and came across these wonderful little coasters featured on Design Junky (thanks!).

They are created with a letterpress and are 3.5″ round. The set comes with eight coasters and costs a very reasonable $12. You can purchase these fine gems on Etsy from sarahparrot825. I ordered a set today, I’ll  be sure to let you know how they turn out!

Enjoy!

The Wilco Book: A collaborative picture book about music.

The Wilco Book is an excellent book based around incredible photos by photographer Michael Schmelling and short essays and commentary by the members of the band, and authors Henry Miller and Rick Moody, among much more. The book focuses on the band as a whole and their surroundings, from bits about their practice space and gear, to their love for music and where they draw their inspiration from. Included with the book is a CD featuring twelve previously unreleased tunes which is quite the bit of experimental songs and demo tracks from previous albums. I managed to come across this at Half Price Books in the Rice Village, but it is also widely available at book stores worldwide as well as the official Wilco website and of course, Amazon. It was definitely worth every penny.

Posters and prints by jp33

I have always been a fan of the work of Dallas based graphic designer Jeremy Prasatik. Having done exceptional campaigns and designs for an impressive list of clientele including Juicy Couture, Neiman Marcus, Emerica, Etnies, and Sony BMG among many others, he is defintely someone whose work I admire a great deal. That said, I was very pleased with myself when I remembered that he had a few prints for sale on his website when I was on the prowl for some goodies to cover my nearly naked wall in the new space of dwelling.

This particular piece below is titled “Simply Retro Revisited” and comes to you on 11″ X 14″,  65lb matte paper for the incredible price of $15 + S&H.
